New Year, New Beginnings: Musings of a Filipino Virtual Private Assistant
Yesterday, this Filipino virtual private assistant had a chat with Jason Dulay, founder of Work at Home Pinoys and trainer at Work at Home Roadmap (which he also owns). After the preliminary “How are you’s,” he asked me of my plans for 2017.
To that, I replied (and I quote myself), “Go on with my blog, teach, maybe, get higher paying jobs..paplanuhin ko pa lang..lols,” (I’ll still make a plan).
He answered,”You have two more days to plan.”
This simple conversation gave this Filipino virtual private assistant a wake-up call of sorts. Creating a plan for 2017 seriously makes sense especially with my hectic schedule.
I don’t know why, but recently, I easily lose focus. Maybe it’s the Holidays, or the heavy workload, or whatever.
How This Filipino Virtual Private Assistant Plans
To facilitate my planning process, I started organizing my work essentials. By the way, thanks to my good friend, Althea Maefe Sagayno, The Quirky VA, for the organizer below. This is my 2017. Still empty, yet to be filled.
So I gathered all my work essentials.
Thanks for noticing that I am a sucker for freebies. My pen organizer, from NaFlora Feminine Wash, was given to me by another dear friend, Francis Edward Guintu when I was still writing for the said product. This guy, IMHO, is THE ultimate freelancer. He’s a hairstylist, project manager, customer service representative rolled into one. AND he is one of TYG’s trusted advisers.
Okay, back to the topic. 🙂
As I organized my things, thoughts abounded, but I still needed something else. Something that would motivate me. So I watched the replay of Jason’s Make Your 2017 Your Best. Year. Ever.
Before watching Jason’s webinar reply, I had the following goals:
- Create TYG’s Editorial Calendar for the first quarter. Why not an annual calendar? It’s because the internet of things constantly evolves. Though I strive for evergreen content, writing about timely matters helps with SEO.
- Strengthen my social media presence. Yes, part of my job as a virtual private assistant is social media management. The irony is, I have little time left for TYG’s social media presence. This will change.
- Study more. I am currently enrolled in five online courses. I really need to make time for serious studying, lol.
- And more…
But after watching it, I realized why I easily lose focus. I lack direction. I lack a single goal. Most of the time, I am all over the place, doing this and that. Not that the goals I’ve listed above are worthless. They just need to be directed properly.
My single goal for 2017 is to save Php 300,000.
This is, according to Lao Tzu, my great act.
To help me achieve this, I have to do my daily goal which is to write two thousand words a day. I have the skills and experience so I know I can do this. This is my small deed.
My micro goal is to focus more on affiliate marketing. I’m currently an affiliate of Lazada, Travel Book Ph and Alfox Printing Services.
And for my mini-goal, I’ll save Php 25,000 monthly. I know I’ll need to take in another high-paying, long-term client and reduce our “unrelated expenses” to be able to do this.
I have to turn my motivation into habits. I know my goal will be an uphill battle that will involve leaving my comfort zone. But as they say, “No pain, no gain.”
Save Php 300,000. That’s my goal for 2017.
What’s yours? Feel free to write it in the comments box below. Thanks!
