Virtual Assistant Tips: Social Media Management Secrets You Need to Know

One of the perks of being a participant in  Digital Halo-Halo Hackathon and E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit was the knowledge I gained about social media management (SMM).

I, along with the other participants of the said event, was lucky enough to learn social media tips from experts. And I am sharing them with you.

I am not an SMM expert, but I have tips which you might find useful as you go along your virtual assistance journey.

Virtual Assistant Tips for Social Media Management

If you’ve been studying different social media management strategies, yet fail to deliver results, it might just be because you’re doing something wrong.

Always remember that the reason behind the success of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the likes is that people find them helpful in connecting with other people.

So how can you, as the social media manager, help your clients connect with their target audience?

Put yourself in your client’s shoes.

Be his brand.

Then ask yourself, if I am my client’s brand, how will I connect with my audience? What will click and what will not? What and when should I post?

The What

Viral videos and images are great. But who’s to say if your video or image can go viral? No one but the netizens themselves. But here’s a tip I learned from attending Digital Halo Halo and E-Commerce. Videos and images that go viral are the ones that deal with human emotions.  Let me give you some video examples:

Who can resist the beat of the PAP? My grandchildren automatically nod their heads and sway their bodies to it. It’s one of the most revised, reenacted or whatever you call it videos.

Now this one, with famous singer Adele is simply a-w-e-s-o-m-e. Seeing her in her casual, natural self, sharing some of her personal experiences and singing her classics, just feels so good. And this multi-awarded songstress rapping Nicki Minaj’s Monster? Priceless.

Images also do great in social media. Should you share images that have gone viral? Definitely – but only those related to your niche. Otherwise, stay away.

By the way, did you know that the Golden Tweet of The Philippines for 2016 is about a puppy? Learned this bit from Mannix Pabalan’s talk at the E-Commerce Summit.

The When

Here’s an infographic from Neil Patel that gives you a quick rundown of when and which social media platform to use at particular times:

So, when you create social media campaigns, consider two things:

  1. What your target audience thinks
  2. When they’re most likely to be online.

Next issue, I’ll be posting my interview with Andrei Soriano Gonzales, an online marketing specialist who works with Neil Patel himself! Don’t miss it!

  1. Thanks, Youthful Granny VA, for sharing a lot of information about social media management. I’m enrolled in an online course on Digital Marketing and I find this information very useful.

    God bless you.
